Swasthya Yoga a Healthy Practice
'Swasthya' the word is derived from Sanskrit, a root language of Hinduism & Buddhism, meaning well-being. Swasthya Yoga is very low impact stretches with awareness movement & heavy focused on our internal breath incorporated with visualization and mindfulness. Swasthya Yoga is based on Patanjali's basic fundamental Yogic Rules, which comprise Devotion, Asanas (Postures) & Meditation. However over the period of time, I have combined Buddhist Meditation known as Vipashyana within the framework of Yoga . Therefore it is unique in a sense that it provides both Hindu/Buddhist feel in the Yoga itself along with small practice of REIKI at the end.
The language we use: Mindfulness, Love, Compassion, Greater Awareness of the Mind, Body & Speech (Triple Gem).
Pranayama, which basically means extending the life force. It entails more than the mere regulation of the body's oxygen intake. In Swasthya Yoga, we practice breath awareness. By regulating (harmonizing and slowing down) the breath and thus the life force manifesting in the body, the yogi simultaneously balances and decelerates the mind. It is the backbone of the practice.

Hello, Thank you for your continuous interest & support to visit Nepal. I along with my friend in Nepal (Sangey Lama) Alliance Nepal Trek Pvt. Ltd and our Air Travel Partner based in Washington DC and in Nepal are all working very hard to make this Himalayan Xperience 2010 a successful visit. In addition to that I am also communicating with the team that has been promoting Nepal "Let's go to Nepal". Due to various things in our lives that not everything can be planned way ahead of time therefore, I had to wait this long for all of you to know about our Himalayan Xperience 2010. There are still few things to take care of before we finalize in our cost among other minor things. However the good news is, it is definitely going to take place and we are releasing the dates for 10 days Cultural Tour of Nepal & 14 days Trekking Group. Please view Carefully
Note: For Cultural Group (No Trekking) will take place in first week of February 2010. Please mark your calender for the month of Feb 2010. The arrival date to Kathmandu is Feb 6Th and departure date from Kathmandu is Feb 15Th. Now as I have mentioned before this trip is very relaxing and enjoyable as there vertually no long hikes going to take place. Once again, I am very close to compiling everything together and waiting for final touch and so forth. One thing for sure, great trips like this definately takes time. If you cannot make it this time, sure there will be more in the future.
Note: For Trekking Group; This adventure will take place in the month of March as I am planning for the Rhododendron bloom along the trekking route. Arrival Date March 6th-Departure Date March 19th. Trekking trip is 4-5 days of strenuous hiking. We can only slow down to hike but there is not alternative but to walk. Not to scare you or anything. If you think you can do it, I suggest you can do it. It is fascinating be get so close to the Majestic mountains. Total worth the time & effort to see the Himalayas with your own naked eyes is the best gift you can give yourself.
Initially, I coated $4000.00 per person, just to keep you in a safer side. I however have mentioned that trip will cost less. In fact, I am recounting the numbers and the more we have in our group the less it will cost. The price of entire trip may cost between $3000-$3500 per person, not more. This cost is only possible because of our good friends & partners along the way. So, hang in there, Keep saving, your saving will not go anywhere. If it costs less, you still will have that cushion to use it for any reason. Oh this includes your travel insurance as well, unless you do not think you need one. However, the actual cost will be mailed to you.
We will keep you posted on when to purchase the air ticket, where to fly from and how to get hold of other group members. Please keep tuning as I am going to release more important things & notes related to Nepal and our venture.
If you are in Door County, please stop by the Shop at 7821 Hwy 42. Egg Harbor.

Buddha Jayanti observed
Buddhists around the world observed the birth, enlightenment and nirvana anniversaries of Lord Buddha today.
Buddha was born, enlightened and passed away on the Baisakh full moon day.
Buddhists thronged Lord Buddha's birth place in Lumbini, and other Buddhist monasteries across the country to pay respect to the propounder of the principle of non-violence.
Also, the United Nations has also recognised the Buddha’s birth anniversary as a public holiday since 2002.
Buddha’s philosophy useful, says PM Dahal
Meanwhile, in a message given on the occasion of the Buddha Jayanti today, caretaker Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal hoped that the teachings of Buddha on philosophy of life would inspire all for creating peace, goodwill and a judicious society.
Dahal said the Buddha’s teachings should be upheld as human values high above communal confines, adding, “His views were not only close to nature but also against caste and class discrimination.” The caretaker PM said Buddha’s philosophy is quite useful and emulative in the present context of Nepal.
“We are in favour of an inclusive republic and seeking permanent ways to transform conflict,” he said.

Namaste and season's greeting from Himalayan Xpressions Egg Harbor, WI.
Dear friends and visitors of Himalayan Xpressions Egg Harbor, we Kim & Prem, the proud owner of the Himalayan shop would like to welcome all of you once again for this season of 2009. We are excited and equally thrilled to see you this year as well. We were busy redesigning our shop therefore it took a while to reopen but it is now completely done and ready for the season.
We have varieties of new items this year like our biggest selection is hand felted purses from Nepal. They are colorful, elegant and trendy. WE directly work with the felters we have seen their work in Kathmandu based workshop. It is not as easy as we all think, when comes to felting. I found numbers of things could go wrong such as when it is knitted first to make a purse later it may shrink more than one expected or think out in one area then the other making hard to create a piece, therefore messing up the entire work. So, these felters work really hard to create what they create. I must appreciate because I am not a felter.
More shipment is on the way to the shop as well from Nepal. Currently our shop ours are Mon thru Sat 10-5 & Sun 10-4 pm for now until further notice.
Also in the news is that we have a new neighbor known as Lavender Spa. The owner of the Spa is Marise and the spa brings sense of holistic to the whole massage system. Check out http://lavenderspaeggharbor.com
Also right next to me is going to be a new cafe, which is part of the Greens N' Grains. The purple building in Egg Harbor will be the destination for all of you, if you want something different than anything around.
See you soon!!

Namaste to all,
Even though this article may help anyone, particularly meant for Nepal traveler in 2010. I found this article and thought, it may be very useful for women travelers in the group.
While plenty of information exists about what to bring treking, there seems to be a big-old-fat info gap concerning what to pack for the rest of your trip to Nepal. This might not be an issue for men, but we women have different needs and concerns. For example, how much skin is too much skin, how available are feminine products, and how can I be discrete if I have to bathe outside? Lucky for you, it is time to learn from my mistakes and rare pat-on-the-back moments.
Whether you want to, or not, each woman gets her Kathmandu fix for at least 48 hours. This guide, therefore, is geared toward your urban experience.
No matter how you look at it, Kathmandu is a city—complete with nightclubs, restaurants, getting in and out of cabs, hipsters, and businesswomen. It is normal to see girls wearing pumps while riding mopeds in the thrill-seeking madness that is Kathmandu traffic. European and American fashion trends have made it big here—with a few exceptions. Here are some handy “do’s, don’ts, and at your discretions” when it comes to clothes.
Save yourself the wasted suitcase space!
Don’t wear miniskirts or shorts: I’ve even had people think I’m somewhat inappropriately dressed when wearing a generic knee-length skirt.
Don’t wear daring necklines: Or at least consider how much more attention, than being a foreign tourist, you want to bring unto yourself before you do.
Don’t bring all neutral colors: When it comes to Nepal, bright is the new black, so don’t be afraid to pack some colorful items.
Don’t bring your favorite whites: “Clean” laundry can be a bit illusive. I have had many a tee and pant stained brown. Unless you want to buy a bucket and some bleach, which I have since done, just leave those whites at home. Your other option is to bring a white “litmus” handkerchief or pillowcase to throw in when you have your clothes cleaned by an unproven laundry service.
Don’t bring low riding pants or pants that touch the floor: The first point follows the same logic as the low necklines advice. Why, however, shouldn’t you bring pants that touch the floor? Although Kathmandu is the country’s urban center, it is still underdeveloped by western standards and boasts some erratic weather. Monsoon downpours mixed with uneven or missing sidewalks, no dumpsters, sporadic concrete streets, and mystery puddles can lead to some nasty cuffs. I have been more than pleased with my pedal pushers and high waters and find that they stay cleaner for longer than my full-length pants.
Go for it!
Do bring some nice items: You are in a city for crying aloud! I know many travelers come here for the outdoor experiences. Even so, it feels good to go to a restaurant, event, or club wearing something other than your sporty or grungy items. Unless your style is really over the top, you are not going to stand out.
Do pack the cliché travel sarong: I officially love the cliché travel sarong and here is why; since my arrival, I have used mine as a scarf, umbrella, towel, sheet, and robe. It is big enough to shield you if you’re bathing outdoors, it dries quickly, takes the mystery out of hotel bedding, and I can walk around my room in it even with the blinds open. Need I say more?
Do bring breathable clothing and quick dry undies: It rains a lot here early in the travel season (August – October) and it can be muggy in a way that sneaks up on you at the slightest movement. I’ll be perfectly comfortable then get up for something and find sweat heading south down my spine. In a pinch, the heat, or rain these can dry or be cleaned quickly.
Do bring an ankle or calf length skirt: Longer skirts, like sarongs, can provide much needed privacy while being dressy and culturally appropriate. It is also another handy rural. From all countryside accounts, it is common to bathe or pee outside. Likewise, if you travel any significant distance using public transport, you can expect to relieve yourself in view of other passengers. Modest skirts can make this a much less humiliating experience.
Use your own discretion:
breaking the no short skirts rule. Going out dancing with friends is one time when you could potentially break the rules. Many women dress up to go to nightclubs. I have seen some swank, colorful, short satin dresses and plunging necklines. If you are comfortable with your company and know how you’re getting back to your hotel, and with whom, short stuff can be alright. However, as I have had my rear end grabbed even while dancing in long skirts, I’m sticking to the more modest outing attire.
Shoes are up to you but make sure they are comfortable. I am a huge tennis shoe fan, but for the past 5-weeks I have lived in flats and flip-flops. Most urban Nepalese women wear an open toed sandal or flat that can vary from simple to quite ornate. Others prefer pumps. Rarely do women wear tennis shoes. I like a happy medium—a simple, comfortable flat with some flare. This also means you can cut down on socks.
To tank or not to Tank? Yeah, this one is totally on you. I don’t see many Nepalese women wearing tank tops but I see a few in stores. My sense is that they are becoming more common. If you come after October, however, the weather will likely be too cold to make use of your tanks.
The Essentials & Semi-Essentials:Now for the essentials, some of which are available here but I recommend brining or planning to buy when you arrive. Kathmandu is situated at an elevation of nearly 4,500 feet (1400 m), so it is essential that you bring sunscreen and sunglasses. I can’t tell you the number of burnt, squinting tourists I’ve seen. Sunscreen is readily available-- Himalaya brand makes a nice ayuravedic 15 SPF--as are sunglasses. However, to ensure that you have good UV blocking or polorid shades, I recommend brining a dark pair with you. Be sure to pack a loofa or a mild abrasive to use in the shower. As I mentioned before, the streets here are grubby; this lightweight accessory can prove to be a blessing after a day of sightseeing or shopping. Bring a Pro-biotic; healthy intestinal flora can do wonders against stomach disturbances and the like. Similarly, pack electrolyte powders if you can track them down—these are available in pharmacies here but trust me when I say that when you need them most, you won’t want to be searching around for your nearest pharmacy! If you regularly take any medications, be smart and bring them with you. Finally, we have arrived at the subject of feminine hygiene. Sanitary napkins are readily available and stocked on shelves in most grocery stores or corner markets. Tampons, however, are more difficult to come by. Most are kept behind the counter, if they are stocked at all. If these are your favored product, I recommend bringing your own supply.
As a postscript, Kathmandu has a history and the present day reality of multi-hour power blackouts. Familiarly called Load Shedding, these can be a real nuisance and security threat if walking back to your hotel alone. To borrow a recommendation from a girlfriend, bring a flashlight and anything else that makes you feel more comfortable when walking alone in the dark

Namaste,
Its been a while since I last spelled few words in this blog.
Everything is in place as it always supposed to be. Everything going according to the time and way it should be going. As long as our wheel in motion we always will move forward not backward.

This is my grand father and his color is definately red. I like his hat too. I love red.
I have been in touch with my family back home. I spoke with my grandfather in village, some 140 Kilometer from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Where it is almost impossible to think of driving as there is no roads. It was the third day of Sonam Lhosar (Nepali Yolmo Buddhist New Year). It is considered 3rd day is one of the holiest day to receive blessings from elders. When I called it was almost 10 in the night. Even though it is new year, unlike in the cities, folks go to bed early as they have to rise early as sun comes up beyond those mountains. Also parites are in the morning vs in the night. So differnt world yet it is so practical based on traditon and geography. Then after I received grandfather's blessing, I felt so light and good all of a sudden. Then I knew my day would go smoothly and it did. Now, one may say, the day went well because I became happy after I talked to my Grand Father and my positive attitude played role? May be. But in our tradition, there are energy blocakges take place house hold, body and so forth so simple Buddhist prayers clears such blocks. I beleive in positive attitude as well as good faith in my beleif so it worked in double. Hhaha.
I spoke with my parents in Kathmnadu but the talk was shorter as my minutes were running low and it was bed time for my folks. Last year, this time I was celebrating with my family and this year I am celebrating with snow shovel. hahha. See I am telling you, I am a joker. I also spoke with my little sister, which she is no more little. She just graduated from High School, now that makes me old. I am not affraid of my age because we must accept and embrace our aging process. It is beautiful to know that you are getting experience everyday. My brother Karma from South India called me to wish Happy Lhosar. Everytime we talk, our conversation is about Buddha Dharma (Buddhist philosophy & spirituality). Its get so good, that we cannot stop talking. To be honest, this is the same brother, who had to replace his Kidney in 2007. He is doing well, studying and keeping his life simple. He told me he just finished his exams and had very positive feeling about his studies. One more good thing came out of our conversation is that we decided to write letters rather than emails. He has a little harder time putting in words so he has to find help to even write few lines. I think letter writing can show a real picture of a person. You can almost hear the person talking. That is why I think in the movies, when there is a letter written, the sender's voice gets recorded as letter get unfolded. Nothing related to this blog however.
In my openion family connection is so important therefore, one must make some effort to make that happen. When everything goes wrong, family is always there to support. One should never forget that. One should always put priority for family and make some effort to be connected once in a while. I know it is difficult in this fast world. NO one has time. Busy busy busy. If we lose such good connection, money means nothing nor what ever we are trying to accomplish. I am sure it is not that import before one's family.
It's not only with the family members but also with friends, without any expectation. I am not going to contact or call you unless you do it first. Such attitude will only make situation deeper and harder. I know it is not easy at certain situation but I also know it is not that hard either. As I mentioned once we set our wheel (effort) in motion, it always works. Today, I will set aside differences or freely contact you just for the goodness sake. As soon as we say or do that, such differences dissolves into the thin air. However, there is a little twist to it. One must have clear and good intention. One must be nonjudgmental, and without defense (guarding oneself) Everything people say is not necessarily bad. It may even be eye opening at right times and conditions. So the truth lies in being honest and keeping ego less mind & attitude.
Well, I thought I would write two lines and now I end up this long letter like, email like, story like blog. And I think, this is what blog is. These days you should see, people in facebook, people have been writing "25 things about me is going on", which is about oneself and everyone can read it, well not everyone but who you want it to be seen, I guess. One thing, no of my family members in Facebook. How could that even be possible? These days dogs have Facebook. Facebook is like a partyzone. Where people can hangout but not at all. Totally virtual world. However, there is a moderation part. One should only put information based on need base or based on trust.
Anyway, how long have I been writing? Felt like forever. Currently I am working on Nepal Trip for 2010. Incase one of you out there who I spoke about Nepal Trip. It is coming, "WHEEL IN MOTION".

Namaste Friends,
It is once again that time of the year, when we wish friends and family Happy Holidays and New Year. On that very occasion, I too want to wish you all very Happy Holidays and Happy New Year and may this New Year bring greater compassion and happiness.
To be honest, it is actually everyday thing. We human have created such phenomenon to recognize every this time cycle to be considered new year so, we have something to look forward or be happy about. In spiritual world, everyday is a new day therefore, even though it is a new year or Christmas it is still like a next day. We live in a society so we adopted this common idea to embrace everything society brings us therefore, I am part of it and you are as well. If we don't then, we are weird or abnormal. Or atleast one may put us in that category.
My point of view is to embrace whatever it is, with compassion mind, with froogle attitude but not over do it. Ego less holidays would sustain forever but if we go beyond our means to get gifts and then later to be thrown in a storage unit will not sustain. It will make us broke sooner. Rather, mindfully shop and mindfully give thoughtful gifts. Receiver may like it or not but intention behind your gift that's what matters.
For those who are receiving gifts this year. Accept what it is with open heart. Be thankful that you do receive gifts from your loved ones. How many people in the world get what you are getting? Not very many so appreciate what you are receiving with genuine heart. No ego! Why so and so have given me this? Why not that or this? Well, receiver don't control the thought of giver. Giver may have thought very hard to get what s/he is getting gift for their love ones but receiver is the one makes it happen by being grateful and thankful and do the same in return. Then it completes the circle.
Be it small or big, thought and intention behind the gift what matters. Don't expect anything rather and when you do receive them, you will be happy. Happiness not because you are getting such gifts but because you are being cared and loved. Now, after one receives genuine thanks from the heart must be returned. Feel and wish them a very good luck for what they have done for you. Because one may had to work very hard to get that very gift. It is not always simple as we think.
In my own home, we discuss, what we want for gifts. We try to buy things, which will help in our own house hold. Such as Lemon squeezer, or new vacuum cleaner, or exercise balls, set of new sheets for the bed, or something which can be used by entire family. It is totally being froogle and nothing wrong being family oriented. We do this because we feel such activity only enhances the living environment and compassion for each other for making home a priority collectively rather than individual gifts like Rolex or Pearl Necklace, or Cosmetic items, which can be used by only one individual. Birthday may be such time because it is targeted for one person but when it comes to holidays it is for home improvement. I have heard people, feel bad for receiving work out equipment because they think (Do I look fat), that is why you brought this? It is not because of that. When we give gifts spiritually, it should be accepted rather than complain. It is for mutual benefit that is what makes gift a great gift.
Well, enough about the gift ideas and such. Be safe if you are travelling. Be gentle. Be kind. Be thoughtful. The new year is sure to bring success and prosperity if we follow such simple rules in our life.
Enjoy the holidays

Embeding Spirituality & Meditation in our daily life.

Namaste,
Its good to be back. Whenever I practice meditation and spirituality, I feel wonderful and so grounded on this planet earth. Therefore, I thought I would share how one can benefit from spiritual practice.
Spiritual practice does not mean, one has to be religious. Practicing Spirituality simply means awareness about every little things what happens in the present moment. Spiritual practice can benefit any one whether you are young or old or any faith you are in. As His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama said once in his teaching that changing faith only confuses one's mind. I absolutely agree with him because doesn't matter what faith we are in, we still can practice goodness from our heart. We do not have to believe in Buddha to meditate, however the idea of Meditation somehow seem to be connected to Buddhism. Because Meditation is simply inquiring within. Doing that we can find our true self. The very true self is divinity inside us, which in Buddhism being used as Buddha Nature. Buddha nature is simply a goodness in our heart.
Now having said that, one must cultivate this Buddha Nature. Even though we know every human being is potential enlightened being and even though Buddha Nature exist in every human mind, body and speech, it still has to be cultivated. It is only a seed and even though every one has such seed, without proper condition (soil, manure, water, sun) nurture that seed would not sprout. Similar to Buddha Nature. Once we realize that we have some goodness in our heart, the first step begins. We realize we have that seed. Once we realize that seed, now comes more work needs to be done. How to plant that seed? Once we begin to realize that having just goodness (seed), would not just sprout. It needs water, soil, sun and so forth. Now such things are Meditation, mindfulness, present moment awareness, practice of genuine compassion, love, kindness, practice of empathy, altruism and so forth.
Now, there are many obstacles to pass though when it comes to cultivating that Buddha Nature into a tree. Such as not enough water, cloud, innutrition soil and such. These things are our ego, greed, envy, hate, and so forth, which would only generate negative condition for Buddha Nature to grow. That will block from cultivating the true Buddha Nature. Therefore, what spiritual practice does is that it creates the environment for that very seed to take sprout and eventually grow into a tree. Now, tree cannot be grown in a over night. It takes time. For that tree to grow well, primarily depends upon our own cultivation, are we watering? meditating? Are we paying attention to that tree, if that tree is healthy? Are we inquiring within where I stand? As modern time Yoga & Ayurvedic (ancient Indian Medicine based on herb) Dr. Deepak Chopra says, "Goal of All Goals is ultimately a spiritual goal". I don't mean to be disrespectful to Dr. Chopra here but in my opinion, when I inquired within, I found this. "Journey of all Journey is the Spiritual Journey". There is no doubt about it. Therefore, I chose to walk on the path on this spiritual journey. I have never been happier than now. So fulfilled, so content with everything around me.

We live in this modern world. Many would think, it is impossible to be spiritual all the time. Yes, it is difficult but not impossible. It is never impossible. Its all in our head. If one thinks its difficult, it is for sure going to be difficult because s/he is creating such difficulties just by releasing the thought. So, rather, embrace the moment, inquire within, meditate and walk like how you always been walking. It may just need a little tuning in the journey. Path may be little off the beaten, that is why it is enjoyable.
Now, regarding spirituality and meditation, one may have many questions, how can I get there? That is why it is called a journey. If I am keep walking towards where ever I am headed, every step is a one step closer. Therefore, lets not waste this onetime human valuable time. Even though we believe in reincarnation. There is no guarantee I will be born as myself again. I may turn into a bug, now will I have the same capacity to practice compassion. Our reincarnation will depend upon our Karma. Now, before I get into deeper, I just want to say. Spirituality is such a thing, that once you find it, it is sure enjoyable journey. Once you embrace it, it is only going to be easier and enriches our life like you have never before. Now, who would not want that? Again, such idea should not invoked by selfish Karma greed. It always has to come from within.
Love & Compassion to all

Namaste,
Empathy, Altruism, Compassion? What it is it? One may ask questions regarding such vast topics. The answer is simple. Being grateful to what you have and what you can do to help for others. I know, everyone is potential enlightened being. Buddha Nature is bound to exist in everyone of us. It only takes a breath to see them. So, lets look closely, where we are. Understanding life is like understanding breath. Understanding breath is understanding impermanence? Once we can see that then there is a seed of awareness has been planted in our heart. Now, it is up to us, how we cultivate it? Should we treasure it by practicing every moment counts or pay no attention by blanketing with ego, selfishness, greed, anger etc.

By the way, the picture you see is taken by me @ Europe Lake in New Port Camping Ground.
I found these simple ideas to practice empathy and find happiness in everyday situation very helpful. I think therefore, could help you guys as well.
Should you find it hard to get to sleep tonight; just remember the homeless family who has no bed to lie in.
Should you find yourself stuck in traffic, don’t despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.
Should you have a bad day at work, think of the man who has been out of work for the last three months.
Should you despair over a relationship gone bad; think of the person who has never known what it’s like to love and be loved in return.
Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; think of the woman in dire straits, working 12 hours a day, seven days a week, to feed her family.
Should your car break down leaving you miles away from assistance; think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.
Should you notice a new GREY hair in the mirror; think of the cancer patient in chemotherapy who wishes she had hair to examine.
Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking, “What is my purpose”; be thankful. There are those who didn’t live long enough to get the opportunity.
Should you find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; remember, things could be worse.
You could be them.
